The Euro­pean Com­pre­hen­sive Care Cen­ter (EHCCC) Zurich for haemophil­ia and oth­er coag­u­la­tion disorders has many years of expe­ri­ence. It guar­an­tees the high­est lev­el of exper­tise in the diag­no­sis and treat­ment of haemophil­ia and con­duc­tors, Von Wille­brand syn­dromes and oth­er rare fac­tor defi­cien­cy dis­eases or platelet dys­func­tion.

We dis­pose of:

  • our own haemophil­ia dis­po­si­tion
  • per­ma­nent­ly avail­able emer­gency ser­vice and a spe­cialised diag­nos­tics lab­o­ra­to­ry (avail­able 24 hours a day, every day of the year).
  • Coor­di­na­tion of inves­ti­ga­tions and ther­a­pies in oth­er med­ical clin­ics (e.g. orthopaedics, urol­o­gy, den­tal insti­tute, rheuma­tol­ogy clin­ic, car­di­ol­o­gy, obstet­rics, gas­troen­terol­o­gy, etc.)
  • Large human resources with a high lev­el of exper­tise

We are nation­al­ly and inter­na­tion­al­ly net­worked and fol­low devel­op­ments in our spe­cial­i­ty.

We are involved in sci­en­tif­i­cal­ly high­ly qual­i­fied med­ical stud­ies and there­fore also shape med­ical devel­op­ments.

Basic research and clin­i­cal research con­tent is organ­ised in accor­dance with high eth­i­cal stan­dards.

The Haemophil­ia and Bleed­ing Disorders Care Cen­tre is part of the Can­ton­al Hos­pi­tal Orga­ni­za­tion (Ente Ospedaliero Can­tonale, EOC), locat­ed at the Ospedale Regionale di Bellinzona, San Gio­van­ni, in Bellinzona.

The Cen­ter is a cer­ti­fied Euro­pean Hemo­phil­ia Treat­ment Cen­ter (EHTC), and is com­posed by the “Pae­di­atrics” (Head: PD Dr. med. Mat­tia Rizzi, nest­ed in the Haema­to-Oncol­o­gy Ser­vice of the Isti­tu­to Pedi­atri­co del­la Svizzera Ital­iana and “Adults” (Head: Dr. med. Euge­nia Biguzzi, part of the Divi­sion of Haema­tol­ogy of the Isti­tu­to del­la Svizzera Ital­iana).

We pro­vide com­pre­hen­sive care for chil­dren and their fam­i­lies fac­ing a bleed­ing dis­or­der (such as hemo­phil­ia A and B, Von Wille­brand dis­ease and oth­er) or a throm­boem­bol­ic com­pli­ca­tion.

In addi­tion to offer a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary care with a team com­pris­ing a spe­cial­ly trained nurse and physi­cian on site, we assure a spe­cial­ized care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In addi­tion, we work close­ly with the adult hema­tol­ogy team (“Adults”) to ensure that the young adult receives opti­mal tran­si­tion and care.

The “Kan­ton­sspi­tal Graubün­den” is the cen­tral hos­pi­tal of south-east­ern Switzer­land with a catch­ment area stretch­ing from the whole of the can­ton of “Graubün­den” to south­ern “Liecht­en­stein” and “Glarn­er­land”.
We have a pedi­atric hemo­phil­ia con­sul­ta­tion hour with­in the frame­work of pedi­atric hema­tol­ogy, where­by we work close­ly with the larg­er uni­ver­si­ty cen­tre of the Chil­dren’s Hos­pi­tal Zurich on sur­gi­cal haemophil­ia-spe­cif­ic issues and also on oth­er spe­cial issues. We offer diag­nos­tics, spe­cif­ic tests, con­sul­ta­tion, fac­tor sub­sti­tu­tion, var­i­ous instruc­tions, emer­gency treat­ment and sup­port­ive care as a small, moti­vat­ed and pro­fes­sion­al­ly qual­i­fied team.

Cen­ter for Lab­o­ra­to­ry Med­i­cine St. Gallen

In our out­pa­tient clin­ic we diag­nose and treat dis­eases of the blood and blood-form­ing organs. As the only haemophil­ia and haemosta­sis cen­tre in East­ern Switzer­land, our focus is on the diag­no­sis and treat­ment of blood coag­u­la­tion disorders. Close coop­er­a­tion with oth­er dis­ci­plines is an essen­tial part of our work. Our pro­fes­sion­al­ly com­pe­tent and expe­ri­enced team of haema­tol­o­gists, lab­o­ra­to­ry physi­cians, nurs­es and phys­io­ther­a­pist guar­an­tees our patients per­son­al care with­in a man­age­able frame­work.

Chil­dren’s Hos­pi­tal of East­ern Switzer­land, Cen­ter for Hema­tol­ogy and Oncol­o­gy

We have exten­sive clin­i­cal expe­ri­ence in the treat­ment of patients with hemo­phil­ia A and B as well as von Wille­brand dis­ease type I, II and III. 24 hour avail­abil­i­ty of a spe­cial­ist is guar­an­teed. We are cer­ti­fied as EHTC.
With regard to lab­o­ra­to­ry tests, we work close­ly with the Cen­ter for Lab­o­ra­to­ry Med­i­cine in St. Gallen.

At the EHCCC Insel­spi­tal Bern we treat adults with con­gen­i­tal bleed­ing disorders caused by a lack of coag­u­la­tion fac­tors, espe­cial­ly patients with hemo­phil­ia A, hemo­phil­ia B, Von Wille­brand syn­drome and oth­er rare fac­tor defi­cien­cy dis­eases, or con­gen­i­tal platelet dys­func­tion (throm­bo­cy­topathies). As a cen­tre of the high­est care Lev­el CCC (Com­pre­hen­sive Care Cen­ter), our mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team offers com­pre­hen­sive inte­grat­ed care for affect­ed adults and car­ri­ers.
